I have started work on a plan at least for the VFS Modules...

VFS - Virtual File System, is a standard for allowing remote access to file systems. However it does not try and achieve this all on its own. For example one of the few back end implementations appropriate for this system include Gnome VFS and Curl.

VFS is intended to be the abstraction of the implementations and to provide a native perl (all be it possibly simpler) version.
